just showing a work in progress shot of my n7 dog tag! Im trying to give the illusion that that symbol is hovering in the centre of the wooden housing :D

let me know what you think! this is just a test btw =P there are still changes to be made

How in the world did you do that with EL wires? It looks like there's some sort of glass or plastic in the interior of the wooden casing, and no wires (except the one in your hand) visible. How'd you get the N7 logo to show up so sharply?

yes! there is a sheet of clear acrylic in the centre of the housing with the N7 logo etched onto it using a laser cutter! I designed the housing to leave enough space between its walls and the acrylic for me to line it with the EL wire all around the perimeter and that is what makes it glow! :)

Wait... what? Do I see this right? This thing actually lights up? You have internal electronics or something?

You mentioned making these available for sale - When? Where? How much? Shut up and take my money!!

Seriously, very cool piece here - I may have some ideas for similar projects for you, if you're interested, perhaps as a private commission?

Sorry for the late reply :P havent been around very much recently with exams and all
the lighting up is done by electro luminescent wire that is completely contained in the housing, I still havent finished my first protoype however and until then i wont be selling these. When I do however I will be offering custom symbols if people want as well!
I dont really take commissions because of school work and all but I would be interested in hearing your idea :)

Ah, I'm guessing that's the wire feed in your hand, suggesting the batteries/power is external rather than a completely self-contained unit?

I was looking for a multicoloured transparent display, tablet size but same form factor as this with self-contained electronics.

I see! yes this is powered externally, i know how to make it completely self contained but without machines for milling i cant manufacture it :(
I chose to use el wire for its very even glow, unlike LEDs
